Mental illness

what are the major types of Mental illness?

Mental illness

In the United States, mental illness is widespread. One in five adults in the United States suffers a mental health disorder (52.9 million in 2020). From mild to severe, there are numerous conditions that fall under the umbrella of mental illnesses.

Moreover, these conditions can be divided into two broad categories: Any mental illness (AMI) and Serious Mental Illness (SMI). All recognized mental illnesses are included in AMI. A smaller and more serious subset of AMI is SMI.

A word from Mid Detox

If you tell them you’re going to take a few days off because you’ve been sick with the flu, COVID, or some nasty bacteria, nobody bats an eye. It’s common to become physically ill, especially if you have young children running around.

But no one publicly acknowledges that they are suffering from a mental illness. However, I contend that, at some point in our lives, we all suffer from a mental health condition of some kind.
